A Short Stay in West Kensington with FG Properties

Last week I had the pleasure, along with Jonathan (my husband) of sampling the offering of FG Properties, who provide what they rightly call a "fully curated service for guests" in a small suite of luxury central London apartments. Ours was a top floor two bedroom flat in a period property about two minutes' walk from West Kensington Station. For those who don’t know already, West Kensington is ridiculously well-connected, as well as being waking distance from some of the UK’s prime tourism draws, including the King’s Road and Olympia.

The whole process in the lead-up to the stay was very impressive, with fast service, responsive, friendly communications, and lots of different ways provided of getting in touch with queries. The welcome pack provided on arrival was also brilliant, including the offer of an Oyster card, a Lebara Pay as you go SIM card, and best of all, a chilled bottle of white in the fridge! It also contained lots of detail about the surrounding area.

The flat was clean, secure, safe and quiet, on a leafy street of Edwardian mansion blocks. Having moved from Central London two years ago, I'd forgotten how incredibly quickly you can get from one place to another - I zipped to three places on my agenda - Brixton Market, the St James Theatre to see an excellent, haunting performance by Tracy-Ann Oberman in McQueen and the Garrick Club.

The apartment can comfortably sleep up to six guests, so it felt extraordinarily roomy for just two people. The big bright windows and skylights flooded the apartment with wonderful May sunshine, and at night it was fun to curl up on the huge sofa in front of the flat screen TV. The modern bathroom and impeccable temperature control system, as well as handy dishwasher and washing machine, were further highlights. This is a service that defines as luxury furnished apartments for vacation and business, and they make sure that they strike every right note for their clientele.

The welcome pack recommended a few great local pubs, our favourite of which was old-fashioned and atmospheric The Cumberland Arms. In terms of restaurant recommendations, in addition to the great Crussh and Mohsen on Warwick Road, we discovered incredible steaks at the chilled out El Toro on Hammersmith Road. Try the spicy green sauce!

The keys were both dropped and collected from us at the property, just another one of those convenient little touches that singles out the way that this company operates. All this great service is the result of the recently-launched offering City Relay. This is FG Property's “meet and greet” service, acting as a dual hotel lounge and central office space to maximise guests’ convenience and enjoyment.

The website is also very slick and user-friendly: in addition to letting you specify bathroom as well as bedroom numbers when booking, there are a host of special features to narrow the search and helpful menu of the different London neighbourhoods that flats are available in. There are also apartments in Barcelona, Marrakesh, Amsterdam and Rome. I was interested to note that there was a Paris service too, in terms of booking my next stay through FG Properties!
