Top 2016 Destinations for Shopping and Adventure in the Middle East and Europe

DSC00638  After a recent first time trip to Kuwait, it's been fun to return to writing about destinations in the Middle East. I've had the pleasure of travelling all over the Persian Gulf, including three years living in Muscat and multiple trips to the UAE, but Dubai remains the stand-out option for family fun and winter sun. Dubai has been firml...

Travel Tips: Where in North London to get Children's Travel Vaccinations

Image result for travel injectionMany people, most of all me, have been mourning the loss of the Royal Free travel clinic, which used to be a friendly Hampstead ground floor gateway to exotic adventures. Now that's gone, the alternative that I've discovered is Nomad Travel Clinic in Turnpike Lane. They have other branches as well but I can only speak for the one that I've been to....

Travel Tips: A Crash Course in Car Tyres

During the recent run-up to our trip to Panama, my children needed several different vaccines. In the good old days we had been using the Royal Free Hospital travel clinic in Hampstead, but much to our chagrin discovered that it had closed. DSC00063There are, of course, plenty of ways to visit the Panama Canal for the first time. We were approaching from the Pacific side, and wanted to get up close after several passes over the Bridge of the Americas. The Panama Canal celebrated its 100th birthday last year. Of the three locks dotting its Pacific to Atlantic span, Miraflores is by far the mo...

Just as the pre-Christmas season seems to extend annually, so too do the range of tantalising retail options available during November and December. It can be difficult to unpick truly luxurious items of lasting quality, particularly when shopping for appealing stocking fillers rather than sure-fire large items. It is also surprisingly easy to fal...

The Memorable Pleasures of the Radisson Blu Hotel Kuwait City

IMG_7441I have just had the privilege of staying in a fabulous hotel, the Radisson Blu, in a fascinating place, Kuwait City. Sad to say, I had never visited Kuwait before, but I made up for lost time on my recent trip. I could not have been made to feel more welcome by the hotel, starting with an excellent meet and greet service at the airport. After an e...

Incredible Pirate Boat in St Lucia

IMG_6710We all went sailing on the Black Magic, a full scale pirate ship from Rodney Bay in St Lucia a couple of days ago from 5pm until after sunset. The crew were all so friendly, dancing around and in cool costumes. I will write more but I had to say right now how totally cool it was...! Estella Roxie
