Where to Stay in the Faroe Islands
A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of a wonderful stay hosted by Jens Kristian Davidsen and Passepartout Homes at one of his apartments in the Faroe Islands. The three bedroom, two bathroom duplex apartment is pretty much ideally situated. It's in Tórshavn, one of the world's smallest and prettiest capital cities. That’s not all, though. The views from every window of the property are absolutely beautiful.
I could have spent hours just gazing from the skylights, and from the spacious living room there is a timeless scene of the hills rolling towards the sea.
Jens was generous with both supplies and advice. He provided a welcome package of essentials and is extremely attentive to whatever his guests need to have a pleasant and comfortable stay. Passionate about his islands, he has an excellent knowledge of restaurants, excursions, and places and photo opportunities you just wouldn’t know about if you were trying to discover the island for yourself. Important practicalities like car hire and grocery stores are within (short) walking distance too.
The holiday apartments are kitted out with flat screen TVs, excellent heating systems (important in the Faroe Islands!), more kitchen utensils than you could ever need, a handy larder of goods, and comfy beds.
Jens also has another, larger property with a lovely outside space and a brilliant nearby playground for kids.
The Faroe Islands is being discovered more by visitors all the time but is still short on quality hotels and accommodation. This makes it all the more helpful to have discovered an excellent place to stay, whether alone as I was, as a couple, or as a family.
